1. What does Tim mean when he says that he becomes a different person each time he speaks a different language? 2. What does it mean to be a polyglot? What does it mean to be bilingual? What are your language goals for this course? 3. Of the languages Tim speaks, which do you find the most interesting? 4. How do you think that learning multiple languages has helped Tim to relate to the people around him? 5. How do you think that learning more than one language has affected Tim's personality? Do you think he may have different personalities when speaking different languages?
Activiad #3 Article "The top 5 reasons to Learn Spanish"
We are going to read an article about the top 5 reasons to learn Spanish. You will mark in the paper. Follow this rules 1) We will number the paragraphs before you read. Start with the number one and continue numbering sequentially until you reach the end of the text. Write the near the paragraph indention and circle the number so that you have room to write in the margin. You can use so you can easily refer to the text. 2) Circle Key Terms, Names of People, Names of Places, and/or Dates in order to identify a key term, consider if the word or phrase is...repeated defined by the author used to explain or represent and idea used in an original way a central concept or idea. 3) Underline Relevant Information while reading informational texts read carefully to identify information that is relevant to the reading task. Relevant information might include: A process Evidence Definitions Explanations Descriptions Data/Statistics Actividad #4 Socratic Seminar We will arrange ourselves in a circle. The point of this exercise is to ask meaningful questions that stimulate thoughtful interchanges of ideas. Participants in a Socratic Seminar respond to one another with respect by carefully listening instead of interrupting. Students are encouraged to "paraphrase" essential elements of another ideas before responding, either in support of or in disagreement.

Actividad #5 Reflection
When finished, on a piece of paper, write a 5-7 sentence reflection which answers the following questions and turn it in with your text (numbered and highlighted) to get some points : 1. Why is it important to learn another language (or why not)? Give a few reasons. 2. How do you think you will grow in learning another language? 3. What do you think you will gain from taking Sra. Smith's Spanish class? 4. Do you think you will have fun learning another language? Why or why not?

Reminders:
1) The use of translators is an honor code violation. It will result in a zero with no possibility of making up the assignment. 2) If you copy your work from somebody else, that is CHEATING! You both will receive a zero, and no option to re do. Always do your work, be honest and try your best. 3) Once the Unit ends, late work will not be accepted.
