1. Attendance Requirements
A student must attend at least 51 percent of a class (46 minutes in a 1 period/90-minute class and 92 minutes of a 2 period/180-minute class) in order to be counted present for that class. If a student misses 45 minutes or less of a class due to early dismissal, the student will receive a tardy for that class period. If the early dismissal results in the student missing 46 minutes or more of a class, the student will be counted absent for that class. Chronic late arrivals and/or early dismissals for a student will result in a meeting with the student, parent/guardian, and an administrator to determine the nature of the absences and ensure compliance with attendance policies.
Absences – Attendance requirements must be met to achieve credit in each course. Students that miss more than 8 periods in a semester-long course or 16 periods in a year-long course may not receive credit for that class. Partial credit is not given for any course.
Students who miss more than the allowed number of periods are required to attend Saturday School to make up the absences in order to receive credit for the course. While teachers will support students in the monitoring of absences, the student is ultimately responsible for ensuring he or she meets the attendance requirements.
All 1st Semester absences must be made up by the end of the 3rd Quarter, March 23rd .
All 2nd Semester absences must be made up by June 30th.
Students who do not make up their absences by the deadline will receive an FF (failure for attendance reasons) in the courses in which they have over 8 absences.
2. Saturday School Procedures
Saturday School – Students will recover time for absences by attending Saturday School, which will be held in the LCHS Media Center from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. beginning in October. While at Saturday School, students will be provided with and expected to complete rigorous coursework for the class in which they are recovering time.
Each student who attends Saturday School will agree to a contract explaining the academic, social, attendance, and behavioral expectations while at Saturday School and the consequences for not meeting those expectations.
Upon completion of required attendance recovery, the student, the student’s teacher, and the attendance office will each receive a copy of the documentation of completion. Click here for Saturday School Contract.

- Today we will be preparing your Chromebooks for your end-of-semester exams.
- I will be walking around to affix a label to your Chromebook. On this label, you will see all of your courses. I have gone through an highlighted any courses that you have which have an NCFE exam.
- Look at your label, and be sure that your NCFE courses are highlighted. The NCFE courses are shown in the table below. If you have one of the courses, but I have NOT highlighted it, please raise your hand. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! All of your NCFE courses must be highlighted or your Chromebook may not be in your testing location and you could have major problems on exam day.
NCFE COURSES
- IMPORTANT: On Friday, bring your Chromebook to school with you along with your charger.
- At 2:00 pm on Friday, you will go to your 1st block class and your teacher will collect your Chromebooks and chargers if you have NCFE exams. Even if you do not have NCFE exams, bring your Chromebook so that you can show your teacher you have no classes highlighted and you will have no problems.
- Your Chromebooks will be returned to you immediately after the exam week, so do not worry, you will get all of your files and information back in a timely manner.
- As a reminder: YOU MAY NOT bring cell phones or other electronic devices to ANY of your exams. If you are found to have a cell phone in one of the state exams you may be the cause of a testing mis-administration, meaning the scores of you and all of your classmates will be invalid and you will have to re-take the exam.
- The exam schedule is on the LCHS page or Drive Folder. All of your teacher-made exams will be completed by this Friday, so it is not necessary for you to be here on the exam days for those courses; your absence will not be penalized.
November 13, 2014
- Using the information located on THIS PDF, complete the NC Test Video Tutorial.
You must do this on your personal Chromebook. Failure to complete this tutorial may result in your not being able to complete your exams.
If you have any problems, please raise your hand and I will come help you.
FYI: Exams are held January 12-16 - Go to this website and complete the Advanc-Ed survey. Answer the questions as honestly as possible.
- Today you will receive your report cards! Bring back the signed yellow copy of your report card to your fourth block teacher.
If you have any questions about your grade or INC, please direct them to your teacher. Below is the official policy regarding INC grades:
Students at Lee County High School are required to complete/redo any work (test, quizzes, assignments, etc.) that does not meet the basic standard of 70%. Students who have not successfully completed there assignments must be given an incomplete for their quarterly grade. There is no mid-semester deadline for turning in work that received a grade below a 70.
Students who have failed to show proficiency (70%) on a standard must be given an incomplete for their quarter grade. Each student must have demonstrated proficiency to the teacher on all standards that have been taught during the quarter.
