III. The present progressive
Today we will continue to practice the present progressive. The presente progresivo or presente continuo is formed with the present tense of the verb estar and the present participle. The present participle is the "--ing'' form of a verb.
Some -er and -ir verbs substitute e and a for Y in the participle. Note: the stem of these verbs ends in a vowel.
leer – le- leyendo (to read); creer – cre- creyendo (to believe); traer – tra- trayendo (to bring).
Let’s take a look at a few examples of Spanish reflexive verbs. I brush my teeth. ___________________________ I wash my face. ___________________________ In the present progressive tense remember, I have to be doing it right now: I am brushing my teeth. I wash my face. No olvides!! INB Now, keep in mind you have 2 options, the “reflexive pronoun” in the present progressive tense can go either before or after both verbs. Me estoy cepillando los dientes / Estoy cepillándome los dientes. Me estoy lavando la cara. / Estoy lavándome la cara. IMPORTANTE: If you choose to leave the reflexive pronoun at the end you need to add an accent mark (tilde) to your conjugation. EX: Estoy peinándome. Marta está poniéndose. Nosotros estamos durmiéndonos ¡Ahora te toca a ti! a) Práctica Haz la hoja de trabajo para practicar este concepto. III. Boleto de Salida How do you to form the present progressive? Explain.
