A noun is a word used to identify places, things, animals and people. Today we will take notes on definite and indefinite articles.
1) In Spanish nouns have gender; they are considered either masculine or feminine. 2) They also, have number which means that they are either singular (one) or plural (more than one). 3) Generally, nouns ending in –a, are feminine and nouns ending in –o are masculine. However, there are some exceptions. 4) Definite and indefinite articles are place before the noun. Definite Articles: We use definite articles to introduce specific nouns.
1) The Definite article in English is "The".
2) In Spanish there are four definite articles. 3) The Spanish definite article must agree with the gender and number of the noun that follows it. Indefinite Articles: We use indefinite articles to introduce general nouns.
1) The Indefinite article in English is "a/an or some/a few".
2) In Spanish there are four forms of indefinite articles. 3) In Spanish indefinite article must agree in gender and number with the noun that it modifies. Examples:

How to use masculine and feminine nouns:
Making Nouns Plurals:
To make a word in Spanish, follow these rules: • If the word ends in a vowel, just add –s. Ex. grapadora-grapadoras • If the word ends in a consonant, add –es. Ex. reloj- relojes • If the word ends in a –z, change it to a –c and add –es. Ex. lápiz-lápices Practice: Make the following words plural: 1) calculadora________________ 2) escritorio __________________ 3) mes______________________ 4) clase______________________ 5) puerta _____________________ 6) feliz ______________________
FOLDABLE: We will create a foldable to help study Spanish articles.
You will need 1 sheet of construction paper, scissors, tape, and a glue stick. Follow my model: Step 1: Fold the piece of paper in half and cut the paper in half. Step 2: Fold the paper in half again so that you end up with four flaps like in the picture below. Step 3: Write the articles in Spanish on each of the flaps.
Step 5: Glue or tape the foldable to the student side.
Step 6 : Write "Definitive or Indefinite Articles" below each foldable on your notebook and level gender and number like the above picture.
