Today we will discuss the importance of learning another language. First, let’s watch the video 9 reasons to learn another language. After the video we will do an activity called "Philosophical Chairs." Instructions: 1. I will read a statement about world language education like "It is very important to learn another language in order to be a good world citizen." 2. You will decide if you agree, disagree, or sort of agree and sort of disagree with the statement. 3. If you agree, go to the front of the classroom. 4. If you disagree, go to the back of the classroom. 5. If you could see it either way and can't decide, stand in the middle. 6. Be prepared to defend your opinion! "I don't know, I was just standing here" is not acceptable. Know that you are in a safe space and everybody is entitled to his/her own opinion, so there will be no judging, mocking, or sharing of information outside of the classroom.
