Flowers-represent love and the sun; cempasúchilt or marigolds are the traditional flowers. Pan de muertos- or bread of the dead, and tamales are laid out as traveler's provision. Papel banners- help decorate for this special occasion. Water- which satiates the thirst of the spirit and represents purity and a source of life. Salt- carries purifying elements, also a symbol of wisdom and can act as an invitation to the altar. Incense- creates smells that are pleasing to the deceased. A petate, or mat is offered for rest. II. Día de los Muertos- Webquest Go to Google Classroom to complete el Día de los Muertos Webquest. When finished, we will make flowers or Papel Picado.
