Remember, in reflexive constructions, the person or thing that does the action also receives the action. ADD to notes There are two places where reflexive pronouns can be placed, as seen in the example below. 1) Before a conjugated verb. (Yo) Me llamo Mirna 2) Attached to the end of the verb, ONLY IF the verb is not conjugated, such as infinitives or present participle. (A mi) Me gusta ducharme. Ella está cepillándose el pelo With Body Parts In Spanish, when reflexive verbs are used with parts of the body, they take the definite article (el, la, los, las) rather than possessive adjectives. EX: Ana se cepilla los dientes después de comer. (NOT Ana se cepilla sus dientes.) Ana brushes her teeth after she eats. Práctica #1 Write six complete sentences describing your daily routine. Follow this model. Práctica #2 Complete en una hoja de papel blanco. Follow this model III. La Navidad

Repasito Contesta estas preguntas usando frases completas. ¿Qué quieres hacer hoy? ¿Dónde almuerzas en la escuela? ¿Cuántas horas duermes durante el fin de semana? ¿A qué hora empieza la clase de español? II. Verbos reflexivos Today, we will learn to conjugate and use reflexive verbs in Spanish. In reflexive constructions, the person or thing that does the action also receives the action. In English we use the pronouns “himself, herself, themselves”; in Spanish, you just add a “se” to an infinitive. Vamos a ver este video Uses Reflexive Actions and Emotions: 1) Actions Ejamples: bañarse, to bathe despertarse, to wake up (Yo) Nunca me despierto tarde. 2) Emotional Response Examples: enojarse, to get angry alegrarse, to get happy aburrirse to become bored enamorarse, to fall in love (Yo) Me alegro cuando no hay tarea. Mis amigos no se aburrren en la clase de arte. These verbs can be used as 1) reflexive verbs or 2) non-reflexive verbs if the action is being done to someone other than the subject. Let's begin by learning when to use reflexive verbs in Spanish. Examples: La madre baña al niño. The mother baths the child. (bañar= normal verb, the child receives the action) La madre se baña. The mother baths herself. (bañarse= reflexive verb, she receives the action) Formation Step 3- Write the reflexive pronoun before the conjugated verb. (Tú) te bañas Note: You must always use reflexive pronouns with reflexive verbs. Reflexive pronouns: Me ( myself) Nos (ourselves) Te (yourself) OS (yourselves) Se ( yourself/himself/herself) Se (yourselves/themselves)) Here is an example of conjugating a reflexive verb in the present tense: ducharse=to shower Remember that reflexive pronouns are needed In FRONT of the conjugated verb. Remember stem-changers in the present tense will have a stem-change in all forms except for nosotros and vosotros. Listos para practicar Vamos a hacer dos actividades para practicar los verbos reflexivos en español. Práctica #1 Práctica #2 ) Go to Conjuguemos.com and log in. 2) Go to the activity PRESENT TENSE: Reflexive verbs 3) At the top of the conjugation page, check "Do not time me," then click the green START button. 4) Conjugate the verb according to the subject pronoun given. 5) You will conjugate until you have gotten through 30 verbs with 90% accuracy; if you have not reached 90% by 30 verbs, keep conjugating until you reach 40 verbs. 6) Once you have finished, be sure to click on the link RECORD/SUBMIT results next to your score, otherwise you will not get the grade III. La Navidad When finished, continue working on your project.
