Preterite of ser and ir Today we will learn the preterite tense of ser and ir. Many verbs in the preterite are irregular and must be memorized. There are three very effective methods for learning these verbs: practice, practice, practice.

Today, we will watch the movie Selena to learn about her and the Hispanic culture. After you finish the movie, on a sheet of paper you will write 8 things you learned about the Hispanic culture through the movie. It can be social issues or family relationships and values. Each idea you learned must be supported with an example from the movie. You may write this in English.
On the same sheet of paper, you need to pretend you are telling a Spanish-speaking friend about the movie you saw in your Spanish class. Remember to conjugate a stem-changing verb in the preterite: 1. Remove the ending 2. Add the appropriate preterite ending based on the subject 3. Change the vowel in the stem if the verb is conjugated in the third person (ex. él,ella, Ud. ellas) Stem-changing verbs use the same preterite endings as regular verbs. II. Presente de verbos reflexivos When finished with the Repasito go to Google Classroom for today’s assignment. Remember:
(Tú) Te Os (Vosotros) (Ella/él/Ud.) Se Se (ellos/ellas/Uds.) There are two places where reflexive pronouns can be placed, as seen in the example above. 1. Before a conjugated verb. Ex: Me duermo a las once de la noche. Me estoy poniendo la chaqueta. 2. Attached to the end of the verb, ONLY IF the verb is not conjugated, such as infinitives or the present participle. Ex. Yo voy a despertarme. Ellos están cepillándose los dientes.

II. Stem-Changers: Preterite Today we will learn to conjugate stem-changing verbs in the preterite tense. Verbs with an e->ie, e->i, or o->ue in the present tense keep the e or o of the infinitive in preterit conjugations except for 3rd person singular and plural where they change: e->i and o->u in the 3rd person.
